It was inevitable. Three weeks of fitness fire, getting doused in a big old soggy blanket. The Wedding Fitness Attack got attacked by a motivation-sucking monster.
To be fair, it’s the deepest, coldest, bleakest part of winter. I had an especially painful, uncomfortable menstrual cycle. I was ten days into a pretty restrictive sugar cleanse and craving bakeries full of bread. Oh, and I’ve also been battling insomnia (with sporadic success) for over a year now.
All these factors, plus a natural tendency toward depression, make motivation a real bitch sometimes. It’s a Catch-22: exercise helps alleviate the symptoms of depression and insomnia – but in order to exercise, you have to have energy. You have to be at least alert enough to drive yourself to the gym.
